HISTORICAL BASELINE TYPING
The eGenomics System can be used to establish your hospital's baseline infection pattern. This pattern can be used to:
  • Determine whether your hospital has a current nosocomial infection problem
  • Provide a baseline measurement to be compared with future outbreak patterns
  • Compare with DNA fingerprints of bacterial isolates collected from admitting nursing homes in order to identify those admissions a pathogen source
  • Compare with DNA fingerprints of common community acquired strains in order to identify the general population as a pathogen source

Establishing a baseline infection profile for your instiution is a cost-effective way to answer the questions:

  • "What pathogens are in my hospital?"
  • "Are they related? Are they different?"
  • "Are my pathogens typical community strains? Or, are they typical nosocomial strains?"
  • "Do I have hot-spots of infection?"
